"As a visitor to Perth who likes to see live theatre, this was a terrific show in a great venue. The versatility and impact of the acting and its closeness was most appreciated."
Zen's Red Mouth audience member, July 2007

"Loved the show, I always enjoy the performances at The Blue Room. Artsy atmosphere, but not pretentious, cutting edge performances. Never boring"

In Persian "Daramad" refers to beginning, appearing or emerging. The recently formed Daramad Duo emerged from a series of improvisation evenings at Kulcha, bringing together musicians of different backgrounds.

Mark Cain and Michael Zolker blend Middle Eastern music (classical, folk and contemporary) with improvised jazz.

Mark has been playing professionally for 25 years in groups such as The Flying Carpathians, Nova Ensemble, Ozmosis, and Bulgarity, and is known for his instruments made from pvc piping. He has lectured in World Music at UWA, produced a solo woodwind CD Reeds, and performed with the Musica Viva schools program. Mark now tours schools nationally with his own solo show through Nexus Arts in Melbourne.

Michael has spent the last 20 years studying and performing Middle-Eastern and African music traditions in Europe. He specializes in Eastern percussion and plays guitar and the Arabic lute (oud).
