Solo Spot 2011 - The Blue Room Theatre Summer Nights

Thanks to all who submitted for Solo Spot 2011 earlier this month. We have decided to extend the show's lineup, allowing even more writers/directors/devisers/performers to showcase work, develop ideas and be part of the plethora of talent on show right here in Perth.

For the third year of Solo Spot we are looking for brave creators who want to write, direct, devise and perform new solo work.
Instigated at The Blue Room Theatre by Jeffrey Jay Fowler, Solo Spot has gone from strength to strength, producing the first incarnations of successful Blue Room Theatre Season shows such as and When Harry Met Harry and Nobody cares but you. The success of applications is based on how exciting and original the concept is. Push yourself beyond your comfort zone.

We’re looking for strange/fun/experimental/musical/dramatic/innovative/edgy original solo performances from all levels of experience. Emerging and mid-career artists will all be considered, as long as they come with a fresh idea.

Successful submissions will:

Not have been publicly performed before
Be between 5 and 15 minutes (max.) duration
Be created alone, by pairs or groups of artists; as long as the piece is performed by only one person
Participate in a group workshop to air and articulate your work two weeks before it hits the stage.

Two night's performance at The Blue Room Theatre during Summer Nights in February 2011
An honorarium to thank you for being part of Solo Spot
The chance to meet other artists and support and evaluate creative ideas while networking.
This is your chance to plant the seed of a new work, so don’t miss out!

Your application must include:

Your contact details
A one page CV or half page bio for each artist involved
A script for performance OR a half page description of what the work will be, PLUS a half page description of your plan for creating the work.

All applications must be received by 5pm Friday 26 November 2010.
